Personalized birthday card

My son had a birthday party to go to and it was for a 15 year old boy - my cute cards were not going to be appropriate at all.  So I made a quick one using my old color bursts (haven't used those in a while!) and large alphabet dies by Momenta.  The Happy Birthday is white embossed on black and I'm pretty sure it came from My Favorite Things.  (I had stamped and cut out the strips a while back at a crafty play date so this is not a set I have in my stash.)

I was going to do an eclipse card but found it very hard to read so I stacked four layers of black die cuts and shifted the top layer just a bit so that it popped up and had a shadow.

I heard he liked the card!

More CAS Big Balloon cards with Quietfire Design

Happy Friday!  I had promised to show you the other two cards I made with the Big Balloon die from the new Elizabeth Craft Design/Suzanne Cannon release.  Again, this came together really quickly - especially as the backgrounds were already done.

Here I used black cardstock and added some streaks (barely visible here - sorry!) of distress oxides and splattered with Finetec Silver metallic paint.  Since distress inks show up on dark card stock, this is my "cheating" galaxy background.

More distress inks background and blotting off water spots.  The birthday is the the purple one from Elizabeth Craft Design Shimmer Sheetz.

You can find all the dies from both Elizabeth Craft Designs and Quietfire Design sites.

New ECD Release: Happy Birthday

Hello!  Are you ready to be blown away by all the new dies at Elizabeth Craft Designs by Suzanne Cannon?  There's been sneak peeks all week over at Quietfire Design but today is the full release!

I'm sharing a quick and easy card I made with the new Happy Birthday 3 die set.  It features a fun script "happy" paired with a bold whimsical block lettering of "birthday."  I sponged a sheet of card stock in different colors and die cut the "happy" four times and spaced them apart on a white card base.  The black birthday was added near the bottom and I added a strip of B&W striped washi tape to the side.

The new release is available in its entirety at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Quietfire Design.

Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Today's post is in honor of ODBD team member Lisa's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Lisa!

I don't know how she does it but she keeps everyone on task - is awesome about sending reminders to everyone - and does so many things we aren't even aware of to keep everything running smoothly.  I love to be organized but I think Lisa's got it on a whole 'nother level!

Lisa, I hope you are enjoying this set!  I love it!

P.S. Those beautiful circle dies are a sneak peak of what's coming to ODBD for Saturday!

Celebrate and subtle stamped background

Hello!  Diana here with a card that can be used for any celebratory occasion but feels like spring to me!  It's in the 70s today and it's FEBRUARY!  I like it.

But on to the card itself:
It's hard to see in some of the photos because the background is so subtle but that was what I wanted so that the beautiful Celebrate die cut would really pop.  I used the "Celebrate" clear stamp from the Happy Birthday collection to make my background.  I stamped it repeatedly on a white card stock and clear embossed.  Though the picture looks almost ivory there, it was the best picture that captured the clear embossing even though everything was done with Neenah white card stock.

The Celebrate and butterfly die cut were sponged with Distress oxide inks and then adhered to the front of the card.  I added a bit of adhesive rhinestone to my butterfly and voila, all done!

For a little big of extra sparkle, I went over all the die cuts with a clear glitter Wink of Stella pen.  It's so pretty and delicate in real life!

I hope you like it and it inspires to you to look through your stamps to see what would make a great background!

More birthday cards with ODBD

I've gotten better about sending birthday cards but oops, I think I missed a couple in the busy-ness this month.  However, I did manage to get this 9th birthday card to my niece.  It's a side step card made easy with the ODBD die.  To get the pattern on the candles, I left the paper in the die and used distress oxides to sponge through the openings.  It's great for embossing but I like this version of it even more.

The second is a quick and simple shaker card using the round balloon die for my shaker element.

ODBD February release

The most handmade cards sent besides Christmas are probably birthday cards - so I try to keep a stash ready because these things tend to creep up on me.  So if you're like me and have lots of birthday cards to send, this month's release at Our Daily Bread Designs is a must have.

I used the balloons dies two ways... the traditional way with cutting them out and the second is to use them as a mask.  Both cards use distress inks and the same sentiment.  Which one do you prefer?  The layered ones with the die cuts or the simple one layer one?
