ODBD Color Challenge

So how many weddings have you attended?  Do they seem to all come at once for you?  I'm actually between wedding "seasons" but there is always anniversaries to celebrate.  I made this card for my stash from this month's release at Our Daily Bread Designs for the Shining the Light Color Challenge.

I am loving this background Scalloped Chain die - I paired it up with a soft pink background and silver glittery washi tape.  I continued with the silver theme by embossing the sentiment from the Happily Ever After stamp set with silver embossing powder.  I then die cut with the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and a simple embellishment - a heart from Ornate Hearts die set covered with the same glittery washi tape.

Teacher Thanks Shaker Card

Hello!  I have another teacher appreciation card for you today - and it's perfect for this month's Just Say Thanks challenge for ODBD's Shining the Light Challenge.  I used the A+ Apples die set to make a window for the shaker element and embossed the sentiment from Class Act in white over black card stock.  I love it that the largest die from the Mini Label Dies is a perfect fit.  I also added a white Script Thanks across the apple.  It fit perfectly across the Pierced Square.

Friends and Felt Flowers

Hello!  I'm breaking out the felt for this month's challenge at ODBD - Create your own die cut flowers.  I love felt flowers because they are still thin enough to go through the mail easily.  Here I used some dark pink and light pink felt with the Pretty Posies die along with the leaves from the Aster dies.  The  Lattice Background is set against a sheet from the Shabby Rose Collection.  I love this sentiment from To My Friend (this area is so transient!) and had it framed with Ornate Oval mid sized die.

Do you enjoy making your own flowers?  Though more time consuming, it's a great technique to learn because you can color match so much easier when you make the flowers yourself.  For this card, I made small buds with the Rose die against a white on white Lattice Background.  To make the rose, I use the smallest dies on yellow card stock and sponged the edges with an orange ink.  I then curled the petals and used a green semi-circle to anchor the petals.  I added a sentiment from To My Friend framed using the Squares die and  Pierced Squares dies with matching yellow/orange tones.  The Fancy Foliage die is a perfect "vine" for the flowers to bloom upon.

Finally, I added a pop of the complimentary color purple by adding a butterfly using the Fancy Fritillary die.  I love how this card turned out even though yellow and orange may be my least favorite colors.  :)

Celebrating 19

My nephew is turning 19 this year (wow!) and as you know, masculine cards are hard to make but I came up a fun yet masculine card using coloring bursts and the new stamps and dies from ODBD.

I started off with a blue card base and then a white layer above.  I used color bursts for a fun organic splash of color.  I then die cut the ODBD Large Number dies to personalize it for him.  The Celebrating from the new anniversary set Celebration clear stamp set was white embossed on blue card stock and then die cut using ODBD Double Stitched Pennant Flags die.  The white layer was then popped up with fun foam so that the numbers would be emphasized.

ODBDSLC284 Anything Goes with ODBD stamps

This month's challenge at ODBD is a super easy one - anything with ODBD stamps!  And there are so much to choose from so I hope you can play along.

I haven't done no-line watercoloring in a while and I thought the new Tulip stamp would be perfect for this technique.  And I love the result!

I first sponged a background using distress inks - Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, and Squeezed Lemonade.  The Circle Scalloped Rectangles was a great background die - gave interest and let the colors peep through.  I then stamped the tulip on watercolor paper using Zig Clean Color Brushes and then went back and painted additional color on them.  I also brushed the tulip with a clear glitter Wink of Stella brush which moved the colors a little bit more than I intended but it still came out well.   The tulip was then cut with the coordinating Tulip die cut - I'm not a fan of fussy cutting! :)

I then added a script Thanks die cut using the same distress inks only more saturated.

Let Love Grow set

Hello!  I've been making these Glorious Gable boxes to hold chocolate (it can hold quite a satisfying bit!) and today I added a matching card.  By using the same papers and die sets, this is quite easy to do!

On the card and box, I used kraft paper and paper from the Shabby Rose Collection.  The flowers are sponged  on the edges with Picked Raspberry.

Faith, Hope, and Love

Hello! Welcome to my post for the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.  This month we have an inspiration challenge:  think wedding, love, peach - whatever inspires you from the board below.  Of all the colored paper in my craft room, I think I have 2 sheets of something that might be called peach!  Lol!  But I found this lovely dp from DCWV Old World Stack that might be called more coral than peach.  

I used the verse from Let Love Grow set and added a spattering of tiny flowers and pearls. I loved all the flowers and lace from the inspiration board!

Today I am sharing a favorite technique of mine for a card I made for the Color Challenge at ODBD.  I used a sheet from the Whimsical Wildflowers and die cut a rectangle out of the center.  It's a great optical illusion with the continuation of the paper.  I then added a thin mat to the smaller rectangle and then popped it right back in to where it was.  I added some flowers and a white lacey die cut to highlight the white center with the quote.

Welcome to my post for the Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.  It's a color challenge this month and I went with the different shades of purple to make my monochromatic card.  I started by stamping in Versamark the wildflower branch from the Seeds of Today stamp set.  The inner rectangle was clear embossed and then sponged with purple inks and the bottom layer was silver embossed.  I also added a purple Bitty Butterfly.  I love the continuation of the pattern from one layer to the other.

Happy New Year! Be happy and have faith

So when I created these two projects for the ODBD January Release, I did not plan for the sentiments to go so well together!  But yes, Happy New Year and be happy (chocolate always help) and have faith!

My first project is a sweet basket (see what I did there?) using the new Bountiful basket die and Plum Pizzazz paper pad.  The basket comes together quite easily and the matting pieces are optional.  I only used some of them because I love the purple showing through. I added a sentiment with the Seeds of Today and the smallest oval from the Layered Lacey Oval Dies set.

For my card, I went for a rustic look with the new His Timing set combined with papers from the Rustic Beauty Collection paper pad.  To add some interest, I sponged the edges of all my layers and added a tiny border and some pennants.
