Happy World Cardmaking Day!

This is unusual - I had to chance to play today for World Cardmaking Day - normally Saturdays are filled with chores and family but everyone had their own things to do and I entrusted my boys to do their chores.  And I even had time to photograph and blog it all in one day - most unusual!

I saw that Casology had a Feather challenge and since I hadn't played in so long, I decided to start there.  I found this beautiful stencil of a feather in my stash by Quietfire Design (also available at Elizabeth Craft Designs) and then the perfect stamp (Hope is the things with Feathers) to go with it.  (It's like I was meant to play today - lol!)

After using washi tape to tape down the stencil and masking off the rest of the area, I used Distress Inks to color the largest feather in the stencil.  I did blues and purples and splattered a bit of water when I was done.  I then masked off the flourish above the Hope stamp and centered it next to the feather.  After everything was dry, I thought it was missing something - so I added some veins (??) to the feather with a white gel pen.  It made a huge difference!

I really liked how it turned out and since the stamp was already centered on my Misti, I did another one with a different color scheme.
