Always and Forever

It's been a such a busy weekend that I forgot to mention that I was on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog last Saturday with a wedding card I made for my niece.

The wood background was inspired by her wedding ceremony on the deck of her parents' home and a I remembered she wanted a touch of blush on the flowers.  Even though it was not the wedding that was planned due to Covid, I think down the road, it will be quite special in the memory bank.

There are more details on how to make the card on the ECD blog so hop on over there for full instructions and supplies.  Thank you for looking!

Once Upon A Time

I remember discovering the Fairy Tale section of the school library a long time ago in grade school.  You always knew it was a fairy tale from the very first words ... "Once upon a time.."  Those words just evoke a sense of romance and possibility.  And as a fledgling calligrapher, nothing is more romantic to me than beautifully written words - check this die out!  Isn't it just gorgeous?  I keep saying it but really, when the lettering is this pretty, I don't feel the need to put much else on the card.

I did add a pop of color with the red rose - which is perfect for the Beauty and the Beast fan in your life. Most of my friends are married (I'm now waiting for the flurries of weddings to start again with the next generation in nieces and nephews) but it would also be a great anniversary card too.

I used DCWV White glitter paper for my die cut as well as for the matting - just a subtle hint of shimmer and then a gray shadow to help the words pop a little.

The card ended up being 5"x 5" and came together very quickly.  The dies are available from both Elizabeth Craft Designs and Quietfire Design.

Bride and Groom

I have another card to share with you with the new release from Our Daily Bread Designs this month. I used a LOT of die cuts on this - and no stamps actually.  I built my base layer by die cutting the Scalloped Chain out of the Wedding Wishes Paper and then glued it back on the same sheet to give it an embossed look.  In hindsight, embossing it with the die might have been easier!  Lol! Either way, it gives the paper a subtle texture that does not take away from the pattern.  I added a pop of colors with small roses and a swirl of greenery. The Bride and Groom was cut multiple times and then layered on top of the card base.

ODBD Color Challenge

So how many weddings have you attended?  Do they seem to all come at once for you?  I'm actually between wedding "seasons" but there is always anniversaries to celebrate.  I made this card for my stash from this month's release at Our Daily Bread Designs for the Shining the Light Color Challenge.

I am loving this background Scalloped Chain die - I paired it up with a soft pink background and silver glittery washi tape.  I continued with the silver theme by embossing the sentiment from the Happily Ever After stamp set with silver embossing powder.  I then die cut with the Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and a simple embellishment - a heart from Ornate Hearts die set covered with the same glittery washi tape.

I hope you can play along with this month's challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge:  Color Challenge.  And if you'd like more inspiration, please check out by my talented Challenge Team sisters ChrisJulie, and Robin.  Remember that you have until July 1 to link to the ODBD blog.

ODBD June Release

Welcome to June release from Our Daily Bread Designs.  If you're in need of a wedding or anniversary card, look no further than all the inspiration you will see today on the ODBD blog hop...as well as a chance to win a gift certificate.

I used the new paper pad  Wedding Wishes Collection- a great pad because it also contains solids that perfectly match the paper - perfect for a girl like me who loves to mat.  I also love the script font in the set  Happily Ever After.   I stamped with StazOn on vellum and popped it up above the golden tulip paper.  I also added a couple of gold rings and some strands of rhinestones for an extra bit of bling.

Here's a trick I used to get my paper to line up perfectly - it's the same sheet!  I die cut the center out using the Stitched Rectangle and then layered it with a coordinating sheet from Wedding Wishes.  It is then popped up in the same place with foam tape.  I love this look - especially when the paper is too pretty to cover up but you want to do something besides just keep the piece whole and plain.

What Greater Thing Is There

Hello!  I'm not a huge washi tape person - except to use them to hold my dies in place when I run them through the Big Shot - but I got this pink roll with swirls of gold in them and I really wanted to use them.  This new stamp from Quietfire Design was also just begging to be inked.  Hence the gold embossing!  I love gold embossing - and there's something about Suzanne's lettering that demands elegance.

I gold embossed on vellum and there is a lavender color wash behind it - just hard to capture - and then I adhered the vellum using the gold threaded washi tape.  I added some Wild Orchid Flowers and green beads to finish my card.

Thanks for looking!

Always & Forever

This week at Quietfire Design we are celebrating a marriage of one of our own team members.  Since we're spread out all over the globe, we're with her on-line all week.  Congratulations, Yvonne van de Grijp!  We hope you have a wonderful day and an even better "happily ever after" always and forever.  (And we can't wait to see pictures!)

Yvonne has given us an idea of what her elegant and gorgeous wedding is going to be like so when I made this card, I kept the colors white and grey.  I die cut out the Always & Forever out of white shimmer card stock and grey card stock.  The hydrangeas and curvy leaves by Elizabeth Craft Designs were also cut out of the same shimmery card stock though I did add a touch of grey and green with my lightest Copic markers.

The Always & Forever die cuts were glued together with a slight offset for a shadow effect and the hydrangeas were clumped together to look like wisteria.

Thank you so much for looking and I hope you join me in sending beautiful thoughts and wishes Yvonne's way!  Congratulations again, Yvonne and Harrie!

Mr. and Mrs.

I hope you're enjoying this week's showcase of Quietfire Design's new A Way with Words dies.  I'm sharing the new Mr. and Mrs. dies.  I kept it shiny and simple - it seems to be the trend nowadays.  I die-cut the rose outline from Elizabeth Craft Designs ten times out of shimmer paper to make my background which I then glued on with Tombow Multi Liquid glue.  I picked up some lovely paper that had was shimmery with some opaque lines running through. The silver rings were made with circle dies and the Mr. and Mrs. were also die cut with shimmer paper five times each.  I stacked them on top of each other.

Each of the rectangle layers were matted with soft gray car stock.  The final card is 5 x 7 inches.

CCNS101: Pennington Wedding

Hello!  Diana here to share with you a wedding card I made for this week's Autumn wedding challenge.  I was inspired by the colors in the middle pic and I thought it would be great to just have the word love for the card.

The roses are the Memory Box Pennington Rose above parts of the Open Scroll Leaf by Impression Obsession and Memory Box Bamboo Shoots.  The lacy background is the large die in the Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight.  I also added some self adhesive baby pearls under the silver foil (back of Spellbinders Metal foildie cut Love by Penny black as well as some oval shaped pearls in the corner with the ice white Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

Thank you so much for looking and I hope you can play along!

Let us love one another

This week's Shining the Light challenge at Our Daily Bread Design is white on white.  Of course, that instantly brought to mind wedding cards.  Since everything was white, I went with a grey ink to keep it soft.

Diana Nguyen, ODBD, Our Daily Bread Designs, Love One Another

It's hard to see in the first photograph but I used SU! Illuminate ink to first stamp the double heart image on the center panel.  It's so pretty and subtle yet shimmery in real life.  Added lots of pearls and flowers to finish the card.  Thanks for looking!
